OCULAR
Until recently it hadn't occurred to me to try and capture what it looks like when I temporarily lose my vision due to an ocular migraine.
This series represents this unique experience.

INFINITE
I am fascinated by the concept of infinity, particularly regarding space and time. After a recent night of stargazing (looking up at night), I asked myself a quintessential human question... what is my place in an infinite universe? However, I was distracted by a more fundamental question: How do we know the universe is infinite? This series is the product of that exploration. Isn't it amazing that something can simultaneously make you feel small and "big"?
PRE-HUMAN
The loss of nature to human intervention/development profoundly impacts the world and each of us individually. While standing on a sandbar in Glen Lake in Leelanau County, Michigan (my literal "favorite place in the world"), I imagined what the landscape would look like if the land surrounding me weren't protected national parkland. This filled my head with visions of wall-to-wall condos and dune buggy tours. So my brain quickly jerked the wheel hard to the other side, and I promptly began imagining the opposite: My favorite places in the world before human development/intervention.
NAPKIN
Like many, school lunch was a great source of anxiety for me. Will I have anyone to sit with? Will I be too awkward? You know... the "hits". So when my kids started eating lunch at school, I feared they would have a similar experience. This coincided with a busy time for me professionally, which left me feeling disconnected and anxious. To combat this, I started drawing daily doodles and messages on napkins for my kid's lunches. I enjoy taking a single-use product and turning it into a connection and a piece of art. Plus, it is tough, and drawing on a napkin has improved my control and patience.
